Electricity is the phenomena caused by an electric charge whether static or in motion. It is the most useful and convenient form of energy and can be easily converted into other forms of energy like heat, light and sound. There are two kinds of electricity-static and current electricity.Static electricity is so cannot move on its own while current electricity can move from one place to another through wires.
Lightning in the sky
Lightning is an example the sky is of static electricity.Clouds become negatively charged as ice crystals inside the clouds rub up against each other.Meanwhile,on the ground, the positive charge increases. The clouds get so highly charged that the electrons jump from the ground to the cloud,or from one cloud to another cloud. This causes huge spark of static electricity in the sky which we call lightning.
Who invented lightning rod?
Benjamin Franklin gave the theory that lightning is an electrical phenomenon. He performed the famous kite experiment in the year 1752 and then he invented the lightning rod.
